Really??!! That is so upsetting! I love the Hitchhiker's Guide (having got it last Christmas) and it's been a fixture beside my bed for late night reading or reading when I should be doing German reading homework. I feel that the first two books in the "trilogy of five parts" were definitely the best - it's much more fun when they're cruising madly round the Galaxy with Beeblebrox than when Arthur goes back to Earth - the whole thing got a bit stretched out. On the other hand, have you ever read "Mostly Harmless" tracing the chain of events that lead to the final bit?
