In the first half of the century, there was a baseball player named Jesse Burkett (also my name). I found him on the internet, and discovered he was related to me. Intrigued, I looked for more information about him, only to learn he was a mediocre player and he had the personality of a wet mop. D'oh!

My name is also popular among college athletes, it seems. I always enter my middle name on forms, since my full name (without the middle name) is shared with maybe ten other women in this country. Two of my appelative doppelgangers used to live within ten miles of me in Pennsylvania.
