Anyway, we had lunch at Chili's and saw on the menu -- hold me back -- "Country-Fried Steak". Which is Northern for "Chicken-Fried Steak". Which is the national dish of Texas.

In the April 30, 2001, issue of Time magazine, there was an interesting article on the South -- the Southern mentality, Mississippi's state flag, and chauvinism for a country that hasn't existed for over 120 years.

The author (a Yankee) kept referring to chicken-fried steak as "Confederate-Fried Steak".
