This was a major disappointment. Robin Williams DID return as the Genie in the third movie, Aladdin and the King of Thieves, and as a result, the third movie was much more enjoyable than the second.

Ah, that's right. I knew the story well at the time -- Williams and Disney feuded for a bit over something sort of dumb -- but the details got messed up in my memory. Thanks.
