Congratulations! My high school was too small to have a newspaper, but I was co-editor of the yearbook. I don't know how similar it is, but I do know that I had very little control over what people decided to do with their pages, especially since the teacher let everyone do anything they wanted. Good luck.

Oh, and one anal note: While both "advisor" and "adviser" are correct, Associated Press style calls for "adviser." :-)
