Ah, the RinkForum. The second place I always go with my poems. You guys should feel honored.... anyway, there's an amusing story of sorts behind the *writing* of this one. I started with the last two lines, and then the first two, and I knew I had to fill in the middle. My brain picked up on the fact that the second and last lines rhymed and had the same rhythm, though, and INSISTED that the rest of the poem rhyme, and have the same rhythm. I think this is the first rhyming poem I've written. So I got my first draft out (that's the version anyone in chat tuesday night read), but there was one line that fit what I *thought* the rhythm was that just didn't work, and another line that didn't fit that was just fine. I went to bed, and woke up in the morning to the realization that the rhythm was entirely different than I had thought it was. Weird stuff, huh? But anyway, my poem, as of yet untitled.

I wanted to freeze a moment in time
A thousand times a day
To be with you, the stars and the sand
To watch you as you pray
But minutes passed by as hours became hours
And time refused to stay
As if they knew my heart's lament
Clouds turned the sky to grey
I've only one question left to ask
Though I know what you'll say
Can you wrap your arms around me from
A thousand miles away?
