I find cemeteries to be rather pleasant places. We used to live near one and the people were quiet and never made trouble. That's the kind of neighbors we all like. I think most people like cemeteries. In fact many people are dying to get in there.

But seriously folks, there is a dark side. Not long ago I walked through a cemetery at Cades Cove in the Great Smokey Mountain National Park. The graves there held pioneer people who settled there in the 1800's. About half of the people died before the age of two. Sometimes there were two or three babies in a row. I suppose it's the same in other cemeteries of that period. I look at my four children and five grandchildren and wonder how many would have made it, if we had all been born a century earlier.
