Parents say the darnedest things

In high school, some friends of mine and I were going to see a movie on a Friday or Saturday night. As we were picking the last member of the group, his mom said to him, in all seriousness, "Don't do anything bad because you might die and we won't be able to help."

I don't believe this is a standard parenting phrase and I don't intend to ever use it on my future children. However, it must have been effective because we stayed out of trouble (well, at least we didn't get caught. I don't remember), and nobody died.
