I'm an art major, and I consider myself a very creative person, and I can tell you that you DON'T have to draw realistically to express yourself. Oftentimes my most expressive works are very abstracted, reduced to simple forms, but they speak volumes. Everyone has an intrinsic artistic style, and to try and adopt a different one, to force your right brain (the artistic side) to work in other ways is counterproductive. If you want to draw, draw, and don't let your left brain sabotage your work by telling you it isn't the Mona Lisa.

It may not be the Mona Lisa, but it is YOU. And that's the most important thing.
