Well, I can't say much to help you. I got an SAT prep booklet, and it helped me as much as anything else did.

My reason for posting is a goofy one:

When I took the SAT, there was one question which gave an example, and then asked: Is this a conundrum, a quandary, a [different word for problem] or a [another word for problem]?

I had always thought that a conundrum was the same thing as a quandary. Then I remembered a Calvin and Hobbes comic strip that had used the word "quandary." I tried to recall the entire strip, and used it for my definition. Sure enough, when I looked up the words later that day, I found that I had indeed selected the correct answer on the test.

So I guess my tip would be to try to think of *any* past experience, and draw upon it. But you already knew that.
