I read that book last year and was quite shocked and appalled at what the Native Americans had gone through. We have had a similar thing happen here, with the Australian Aborigines. In all of the Australian history learned at school, there is never any mention of the atrocities committed upon the native Australians. Neither is the fact that when the English settled here, there were over 200 different tribes over Australia. Now, I believe there are around 5-10.

There are atrocities committed in every country, some just hide it better.
