Seems to me that hometowns aren't much to envy. Of all the people I know with a hometown, if they ever left for even just a few years, it ceased to be "home." The adage that you can't go home again is very accurate.

However, I know a few people who still live where they were born (and no I don't mean the bassinet at the local hospital), they have lived there their whole lives, and they claim they could never live anywhere else. Those people I envy a little, because they seem to know where they belong. But I'm glad that my background has as much variety as Howard's does.
