Like I said, I spent a couple *years* on it before I finally finished it. I remember being frustrated by it too. I had gotten rather far into it before getting completely stumped. I couldn't find some place called "The Blasted Spot." I went so far as to walk my character completely around the edges of the entire map, and mapped it out on paper with pencil, and I still didn't find what I was looking for. Finally, one day, I was playing again and took a shortcut from one town to another instead of using the road, and I FOUND it! Imagine the jubilation! It didn't take long to finish the game after that.
