I went so far as to *ask* the guy who gave us the introductory talk, "How COULD somebody accidentally bring a rodent onto the island?" and he said there were two ways it's happened before. One, somebody has left their backpack in the garage or yard overnight, and a mouse has climbed in. Two, somebody has had a mouse in their shoe. This is really what he said. I don't know whether he meant the person was wearing the shoe at the time. The idea that anybody could be walking along, UNAWARE that there is a MOUSE in their SHOE, blows my mind.
