I hope that my use of the term "swamps" didn't give the wrong impression about the Cochran, Ga. area. They have a few swamps, but recent rains had made it a little swampier when I was there last week. It's actually a beautiful area. There are live oaks, Spanish moss, azaleas, and countless varieties of spring flowering shrubs and trees. Wisteria grows everwhere and dogwoods are scattered over woods and yards. Cochran, and neighboring towns such as Eastman, have a deep-south look with spacious old houses, tree-lined streets and well kept yards. There are numerous small lakes and ponds. As you would expect, the people are friendly and life moves at a slower pace than, for example, Atlanta. I've been there eight times, always in spring. It's a nice place for a spring vacation.
