> The point in the seventh paragraph where you wrote: "They became more attractive as I watched." It just sounded out of place. The previous paragraph sounded a lot like you, though. And once I'd realized something was up, my suspicions were increased by the presence of a few incorrect verb tenses in the rest of the story. These made it seem like you were not writing from personal experience. At least, that's what I think.

LOL! Actually, the verb tenses thing is an old problem of mine-- I stink at maintaining tense in my writing. I REALLY have to work at it, and here, I obviously didn't. :-)

For those who would like to know, the truth is there right up to the point where I have the idea. I actually did have the idea, and the idea was exactly as I described it in the rest of the story (although I wavered between doing one or two business cards) but I never dug the pen or business cards out. The actions from there on out are false.

As well, with the way my parkade is and the way traffic is at that time of day, I almost certainly would have still been ten feet in front of the Girl Car when they got the cards, and I would have seen their reaction in the rear-view mirror and had more to tell. But of course, nobody had any way of knowing that from the story as it was written. :-)
