Listening to the Crying Trees

Two nature posts in a row...how strange...

While in my mom's car (again), I was looking at two trees on top of a hill. They were bent down, so it looked like they were two people, each leaning its head on the other's shoulder. I thought it looked like two people in a comforting embrace...both crying together.

As we drove nearer to the hill, however, I saw that the trees weren't even on the same hill. It got me thinking about God and how sometimes I feel really close to Him, but then the next time I look at my relationship with Him, I see that we're not as close as I'd originally thought. I thought to myself that since I know where God is, I need to work on uprooting myself from the hill of my life, and transplant myself next to God, because then I truly will not be alone. I keep expecting to always view my relationship with God from a distance, so I feel close to Him, but I really need to look harder in order to see how much closer I could become.
