Plumeria? Even the name sounds lovely. I can't wait to smell it someday. :-)

Oh, it smells wonderful. :) It's the main flower used to make leis in Hawaii. Once when I was on a family vacation in Hawaii, my sister and I both had plumeria leis. We put them in water (it helps keep them fresh - just immersed them in water) and the water took on the fragrance of the flowers. I rinsed out several of those little hotel shampoo bottles (so that the shampoo smell was gone) and put some water in there, but the scent didn't hold for long. Darn.

That reminds me of another favorite smell - I LOVE the smell of getting off a plane in Honolulu Airport. The airport is built in many places with open sides (i.e. floor, ceiling, but not full walls, open to the air with no windows) and the whole aroma of the place is wonderful. There's the plumeria scent of leis from tour-group welcomers, the smell of pineapple, hibiscus, damp greenery (there are garden areas throughout), and sea. The whole mix is accentuated by humidity and by the fact that you just got off an airplane. It really makes you feel like you've gone to another world. (And you get to ride the Wiki-Wiki shuttles! YAY! *g*)
