What I was thinking of when I said "water" was the smell of fresh running water which you get at a waterfall in the forest. It's probably not the smell of the actual *water* so much as a combination of cool wet soil and rocks, moss, leaf mould, trees, and the cooler air where the water is. It's a distinctive smell and it's very lovely.

Right. The nice warm cat fur smell is only in the middle. There's nothing like whisking up a cat that's just come in out of two hours lying in the sunshine outside. Warm...soft...cuddly...
