I love the way that verse works in the context of the whole song.

In the first verse, he's a little boy, and the Devil calls his name; and he laughs at the Devil, because he's a good boy and he knows his mama loves him.
In the second verse, he's a grown man, and the Devil calls his name...
And then in the third verse, he's the President, and the Congress calls his name...
