A student writing an essay used the wrong word by mistake when he described how a woman "fell down the staircase and lay prostitute on the floor." When the teacher graded the paper, he put a note in the margin beside the offending passage: "Sir, you must learn to distinguish between a fallen woman and one who has merely slipped."
