My writing (mostly when I was in gradeschool and early highschool) was usually triggered by names. I'd hear a name and a personality would begin to form in my head, and a story would develop from there. Eventually I got out a baby book and started looking for interesting names. I would map out whole family trees, sagas spanning centuries, full of names and traits and, occasionally, a plot or two. What fun those were...
