I think you're taking the advice people gave you a little too harshly. Rest assured that whenever people *aren't* nice to each other, Sam deletes them straight away. (Their posts, at least. He's still working on ways to delete the actual people.)

Most of us on this forum take writing pretty seriously and we're interested in it. It's a good place to get advice, for that reason, but it also means you tend to get advice you didn't ask for. Just go with it and I'm sure it will all be useful in the end.
