more urban legends?

Remember a while back when we had some discussion of urban legends?
I just remembered this.
In the 1940's I lived in a small town in Letcher County, Kentucky, called Neon. Neon was about 2000 people in those days. Somebody told my father how the town got it's name. It seems that in the early days (20's and 30's maybe) There was no road into Neon, so most people came in and out by train. There were coal mines in the area and a railroad was more important than a highway. Before the depot was built, there wasn't even a platform. People had to wait for the train to stop and then jump. Getting back on the train was a problem, as well. There was a large stump next to the track and the passenger would put his knee on the stump and the conductor would grab his hand and pull him up onto the train. Did you catch it? Knee-on became Neon.
