I've been one of those sort-of purists who steadfastly refuse to watch the trailer, although I haven't covered my ears during the trailer and have gotten a taste of the sound effects and so forth. By now, though, it's pretty much impossible to be surprised by the film, and I've picked up pretty much the entire plot summary as well as a notion of what to expect in the acting and directing department, which is, "not much". Too bad; I'd rather see a character-driven installment than a special-effects bonanza, especially with such an interesting character as the pre-Vader Anakin Skywalker. As for the toys, I haven't bought anything new, and my friends and I are all still kicking ourselves for doing stuff like playing with the Millennium Falcon in the sandbox when we were kids. Who'd have thought the silly thing would be worth several hundred smackers when we hit age 25?
