At one point while we were there, my brother caught sight of something and walked across the room to a box of children's toys. He pulled one out that had been partially covered: a small barn full of plastic animals. He and I looked at it for a few seconds, then he opened the barn's small door. The latch made a very familiar sproinging noise. It was one of our toys, missing for a decade, maybe more.
Heh, I have a 'finding something I thought I had lost forever' story.
When I was eight years old I was baptised into my church, and my grandparents gave me a very nice, leather bound, silver leafed set of scriptures. They had my name and the date of my baptism on the front cover. I loved those scriptures. Anyway, when I was 12 years old I was at church in a sunday school class (which was being held in a large closet, because the church lacked the space for all the classes it needed...a very *crowded* closet, I might add.) Anyway, I left my scriptures in the class accidently and when I went to go find them...they were nowhere to be found. I searched and searched. I cried. I was, needless to say, very upset.
Flash forward to the future, about 2 years ago. (I was 22, so this was 10 years after I had lost them.) I was visiting with my parents, and went to church with them that Sunday. They still attend Church in the same building. Walking down the hall, I came to the 'lost and found' pile that they keep of various toys, articles of clothing (coats, and shoes, mostly) and other random items. You'll never guess what was sitting on the very top of the pile. Yup! My scripture, very dusty, very very old. Have of the white ribbon used for a bookmark is now brown from all the dust. I was so excited I was skipping through the halls. (very irreverently, probably.)
Anyway, that's my happy 'found-something-I-was-sure-I-had-lost-forever' story.
