I've spent a lot of time in Santa Maria. I guess I've even seen the purple house, but nothing in California surprises me anymore. Santa Maria is a great town. It's not touristy, many of the people are Hispanic, it has a short, privately owned railroad, and one of my favorite nephews lives there. Come to think of it my sister lived there until recently. It must be the broccoli capital of the world. There is also a great Warbird museum at the airport there, unless I'm confusing it with another place. Aw, heck! Now I've got myself wanting to go to California.
