They never admit to hitchiking? Heck, my dad is an aging hippie, and he's taken me hitchiking /with/ him. We've even picked up a few hitchikers. I would still avoid it myself (both hitchiking and picking up hitchikers) but then, I'm a little sissy. :-)

I must say, though, I would be curious to hear more stories about your family, Jezzika-- my mom was from a very straight-laced family, and my dad has no ex-hippie friends, so I hear very few stories from those days... Of course, I'm not the type to want to re-live them, but those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it, so I'd rather hear as much as possible now so I don't wake up one morning and realize I've accidentally sold all my material possessions and moved to a commune. :-)
