I have a friend who refers to his 1957 model motor scooter as a "time machine." His father bought it for him when he was a boy, and he recently restored it to new condition. Now, he says, whenever he rides it, it takes him back to the late '50's. I've noticed that. I suppose that is why so many scooter collectors have several scooters. If I want to go back to the 40's I jump on the big red '47 Cushman. If I want to see the 50's again, I ride my '53 Allstate. For the 60's, I have my '63 Eagle, and for the 70's, my '74 Vespa. Yep, those are time machines all right. I wish I had a '39 AutoGlide.
