That's from Neil Gaiman and found in his short story collection "Angels & Visitations". It might be reprinted in his book "Smoke and Mirrors".
Neil Gaiman is most well known for his work on the Sandman comic book, his collaboration with Terry Prachett on "Good Omens", and his Neverwhere BBC television mini-series/book.
The story behind this piece is this:
While Neil Gaiman is a writer, he has several friends that are artists. Each year, his artist friends would create their own Christmas cards and send them out. Neil wanted to do something creative one Christmas, but is a rather bad artist. So he created a story with exactly a hundred words, printed that up, and sent it out as his Christmas card for that year.
(By my count, that was actually 102 words.)
