Great game Sam & gremlin but now I am stuck.

Am I at a dead end? There doesn't seem to be any way out of the spot I'm in. I'm in a building on Akumos and can't get out. I either get killed by beetles in a glass box, captured when I go north in the alley or shot when I try to open a door a few times. I have also searched boxes many times in a row and done other actions many times (throwing rocks, investigating walls etc). What next? Does anyone have any hints for me?
