When you say "on the flip side," do you mean on the other side of a vinyl record? I was listening to one of them newfangled compact disk contraptions. "Bing Crosby's Golden Records." It has all of his songs that went gold. Sam's Song is one of them, and the "Simple Melody" song you mentioned is on it too...just before Sam's Song if memory serves. Some of my other favorites from that collection:
