I've not had the opportunity to do much reading in awhile. Probably the last really good book I read was the Illuminatus! Trilogy (Robert Shea / Robert Anton Wilson). I'd reccommend it to anyone with a lot of time to kill (eight hundred pages worth of time) and a lot of patience for literary styles that don't necessarily make any sense. It really is an excellent read, though. The Sequel, The Schrödinger's Cat Trilogy, though also good, lacked a lot of the punch that the Illuminatus! had.
Agatha Christie's "Ten Little Indians," also known as "And Then There Were None," is a must-read for anyone who enjoys either mysteries or suspense novels, or anyone who enjoys well-crafed and beautifully executed plotlines. It is easily the masterwork of her career, and she is, if not the greatest, one of the greatest mystery/suspense writers ever.

Actually, the place I always get stuck in LotR is right in the beginning of book six (the second half of Return of the King). Since Iss hasn't read that far yet, I shan't comment on it, suffice to say that that's where I get stuck.
