When I hear of Perth, I always think back to the time when John Glenn made those historic three orbits of the earth in a Mercury capsule. The people of Perth turned on the lights, and turned many of them skyward, so Glenn could see them. And he did! He even radioed mission control to tell the people of Perth that he saw their lights. I can't remember the exact year, but it could have been 1962. It could easily have been the neatest puplicity stunt of the decade.
