Blackie is missing. She's been gone for a week. She is the oldest of my grandaughter's four dogs. Blackie is nine, a mixed breed, the runningest dog I know. She also loves to swim and often follows my canoe all over the pond ("The Lake"). She had been to the vets a week before her disappearence and was pronounced in good health. Blackie had the run of the 135 acre farm. The land is mostly in forest and borders government land called "the bear preserve." It's only a mile or so from the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. Blackie is not the kind of dog that gets lost. She wouldn't run away. I think it comes down to two possibilities; she is dead or has been dognapped. But we aren't allowed to refer to her in the past tense. Missing dog notices have already gone up.
