I, myself, am fairly convinced that they are designed only to pay off once per player. The very first time I ever tried one, I won (I think it was at 3 to 1), but never again. I now don't gamble anymore. Not that I was big on it in the first place; I routinely hit "leave" except when I was in the mood to be silly.
