what e pluribus unum REALLY means

One from very many, or possibly one from too many. Pluribus is the comparitive form, not the positive. The quote "e pluribus unum" originally came from a poem supposedly written by virgil... describing a salad put together from all sorts of food. And ending with the quote "one thing from very many things!" or e pluribus unum.
