Icy Water DOES Sound Appealing... posted by Den-Kara on Wednesday, November 22, 2000, at 20:13:50:

On the rare occasions it snows here, the snow looks quite nice falling down to earth, but it either melts before it hits the ground, or it turns to disgusting and muddy slush five minutes after it falls. Unless, of course, you go into the mountains to go innertubing, which I intend to do this Christmas break. I just hope I don't go sliding underneath a fir tree like I did a few years ago...I got stuck and had to feebly cry for help until my dad came to save me. > > > > My first reaction to this was, "WHAT? You're going INNERTUBING in the middle of WINTER?" Then I realized you meant on the snow, not in a river. Heh heh. Silly me. > > > *lol* Oh, yes, that IS what I meant! Don't tell me you've never gone innertubing down a raging river in the middle of the winter? *in shock* Why, it's the only way to 'tube! I always wear thirty layers of clothing and jump into an icy river. Sure, you might turn a unique shade of blue and maybe you'll crack a couple teeth due to shivering, but it is all worth it when you emerge from the icy depths still intact. And sometimes, if you're lucky, you find some frozen fish sticks in your parka hood. > > ~Den-"*shiver*"Kara
Something you said in there reminded me of something I heard several years ago. If you wonder why people in Maine look so grim in winter it's because, if you grin, it's so cold your teeth crack. Now that's cold! Howard
