I'm not too bad at imitating accents myself, although I'm certain that the real foreigners would likely laugh me to scorn upon hearing my attempts.

My problem is, I have to really think about it to keep it up for long. If I try to have a lengthy conversation with someone while faking a foreign accent, it doesn't work, because my "accent" will gradually fade away as I forget to continue doing it. This was embarrassingly captured on tape once. When I was in high school, my friends and I had gotten together to videotape our own spoof of a James Bond flick. Being short on actors, I got to play the villain and some sort of "Premier of Russia" character. The Russian dude was having a long conversation with the Bond-type character about something, and the accent got worse and worse as the conversation continued. (Keep in mind, we didn't use a script; we ad-libbed the whole "movie.") My friend and fellow "actor" noticed, and abruptly asked, "What happened to your *accent*?" My response?

The "accent" abruptly returned as I said, "It fell on the floor!"
