Why RinkWorks? Why do we all come here religiously every day?

It's the community. That's not to say the site content's not up to much, of course. After all, that drew nearly all of us here in the first place and keeps us entertained with every update. But what keeps up here is the sense of community and friendship.

The internet is pretty famous for being full of people who you wouldn't want to meet in a brightly-lit alleyway, so finding a group like this is a rare occurence. Anyone who has tried other places will know that we've got something special here.

The Rink community is one where we all look out for each other, and is no less a community than any real-life one. I use the term "real-life" there to distinguish the virtual from one where we meet face to face, not to suggest that it is in some way artificial. Rinkworks is a part of us, and we are a part of Rinkworks. And I am honoured to be part of that "we", just as I am honoured to have met you all.

If there are any lurkers reading this, then don't be put off by this sense of a strong network of regulars. We all had to join it at some time.

Reading through this, I see you could be forgiven for thinking this is goodbye. Well, it isn't. No matter how much you want me gone. ;-)
