I replaced a few badly worn cables with new ones of exactly the same type, but something seems to have gone wrong in the process. I'm getting an electrician to sort it out next week; don't worry, I do know where to draw the line at do-it-yourself.

Don't worry, we had a similar flaming toxic meltdown in the welding lab a while ago. The diameter of a few critical cables can make a big difference. And, by the way, it's 'resistance' of the cables that our electricians have to worry about, not 'capacitance'. Sorry. Never fear.

Or, maybe you *should* worry that even the professionals get it wrong sometimes. Gulp!

Oh, right.
