I replaced a few badly worn cables with new ones of exactly the same type, but something seems to have gone wrong in the process. I'm getting an electrician to sort it out next week; don't worry, I do know where to draw the line at do-it-yourself.

Don't worry, we had a similar flaming toxic meltdown in the welding lab a while ago. The diameter of a few critical cables can make a big difference. And, by the way, it's 'resistance' of the cables that our electricians have to worry about, not 'capacitance'. Sorry. Never fear.

Or, maybe you *should* worry that even the professionals get it wrong sometimes. Gulp!

Oh, right. I suppose, sort of like if you actually got 88.64% of your boat done to your satisfaction, and to celebrate you invited RinkWorks to your yacht with lots of finger party foods and stuff... but then we suddenly started dropping off like flies, because of botulism in the salmon mousse you served? That would /definitely/ be guaranteed social death for ya. :-)
