Let it fail. The public schools spend million campaigning for and against propositions and candidates. They've become a political entity.

I VEHEMENTLY au contraire your au contraire. I am (or will be, in another 6 months) a product of public schools. District of Columbia Public Schools, at that, which are widely "known" as some of the worst public schools around. I would not have wanted to go to any other school system anywhere. Sure, I've had some bad teachers, but so have my friends in private schools. Overall, though, I've had an extremely positive experience. I've learned the things in class that I've needed to learn, but more importantly I've learned things about the world, about being with people who aren't the same race and economic status as I am. And don't think I HAVEN'T done well academically - I also recently got a perfect verbal SAT score, I've won an award at a National competition, and I'm shooting to get into one of the three top liberal arts colleges in the US, with a very good chance of making it. The United States Public Schools, from someone IN them, do NOT stink. Some of them do, but some of EVERYTHING stinks. Don't be so dogmatic about something that can easily be refuted.
