I got suspended once. My mom, deciding it wouldn't be that much of a punishment letting me stay home and watch TV, took me to work with her. Having to spend the entire day right next to a mainframe programmer at her office is a far worse punishment than any other I've endured.

Also, when you miss school, you miss that interaction with your friends and any lectures or anything that had informtion that could have helped you on future homework or tests.
