Just wanted to say...Being a victim and knowing many victims of the Whole language craze, I can testify that it absolutely does not work. (I'm being consciously melo-dramatic concerning the victim thing.) I have never learned to read correctly and I doubt that the mistakes made in teaching me to read can ever be reversed; I still have trouble spelling new words, though they had to teach my entire grade how to spell all over again in 6th and 7th grades because they finally figured out Whole Language does not work.
