Next question: has anyone but me heard of a Bolster bar? They are made by Necco (the New England Confectionary Company), which also makes Necco wafers and Skybars. But Bolster bars have been exceedingly rare for many years, and it is difficult to keep track of places that carry them. For a while, the only place we knew to get them was Millinocket, Maine, but whatever place that was stopped carrying them. For the longest time we couldn't find them at all and suspected Necco discontinued them -- but in January of last year I discovered they had them at Old Zeb's in North Conway, New Hampshire. That's the only place I currently know where to find them; I'm up there every January and buy them out each time I go.

The closest familiar candy bar to it is a Butterfinger -- but it's different, in a way I can't quite describe. Maybe a little less oil or molasses or something.
