I was hooked on IRC for about a year back when I first started university (well, college at the time) and moved to a new city far from home and knew nobody but my family... Fortunately, I met some people through IRC that I had also met IRL, and that helped cultivate my non-IRC relationships. Then I moved to a bigger city to finish my degree at a university and moved in with a bunch of high-school friends who had also ended up there and I managed to kick the habit. Now, though, that habit might come back simply because I've found a place where everyone seems to be so wonderful. (I say "seems to be" not because I suspect that you are all not as wonderful as you appear here, but as a qualifier to the "everyone", since I clearly have not encountered everyone here. But I digress. Often.) Well, off to check out RinkChat. I'm sure I won't like it. I'm sure I'll just drop by and check it out as another RinkWorks feature which I must look at for completeness, if nothing else, and then leave again. I'm sure that I'll go home today to find that somebody accidently left a dump truck full of loonies (Canadian one dollar coins, for those who don't know) parked in my bedroom. I'm sure that if I keep saying I'm sure, all these things will come true.

Have you ever tried to read all the forum posts? I think I tried when I first came here, but that was utterly and without question not a success. However, by the time I was finished with my attempt, I felt like i knew everyone who posted here. It is kind awkward when you know everyone but they don't know you. Well known public figures must go through that all the time. However, Rinkydinks are much more accepting than celebrities, in my experience. Welcome, Monkeyman, to a place that is just as great as you have expressed and moreso now that you're here.
