I'm surprised that this has stayed up as long as it has, not because of the message but because of the tactic it uses. Instead of attempting to provoke discussion, this type of message is only used to provoke emotion by using a made up story. Thus, if anyone tries to reply to it using logic, they just look like a monster.
I think that this bothers me a lot because we see things like this all over the internet and the masses feed into it whether it is true or not. In fact, I think the Christian community is one of the most involved in doing this as well as for being caught up in it easily. I've read plenty of emotional stories that either cannot be proven or are so driven by emotion that the obvious errors are glossed over. And it is even worse when the tone of these stories change at the end when they practically resort to threatening you to send this email on or else.
Now, while my views fall in line with the message contained in this post, it still rubs me the wrong way. I think the main emotion that is drawn out on both sides is anger and, while anger is a worthwhile emotion at times, I prefer other emotions.
Take your time when reading items like this. Your emotions are a useful tool but they are not the only tool. Look at context and literary style to see what else can be extracted and then make a decision on what you think.
