Your comment reminded me of a short story I read a few months ago. I believe the author was Isaac Asimov. In this story, which takes place sometime in the future, there is a global government, with an elected president...but the election is decided by only one voter...
That's right. One person determines who will be the next president of the world government. It's a different voter every time. Who it is is determined by a supercomputer called Multivac. (This computer figures prominently in many of Asimov's stories.)
I can't remember the title, but the story tells about the experience of one man who gets chosen to be THE voter in a particular election. It's really intersting. Is there anybody familiar with this story who knows the title?
