Unfortunately I couldn't make it in time for the viewing last night, but I got to see my friend before the ceremony started. It was very eerie to see him just lying there in the casket. The ceremony was very emotional, and my eyes kept threatening to overflow. At one point I almost started sobbing aloud. Someone behind me actually was. Afterwards, I went with about 30 friends (I only know some of them, actually) to a restaurant, where we talked and ate and cheered each other up some. I'm staying with one of my friends (NessaChan from RinkChat, if anyone remembers) for about a week before coming home.

That's how it was at my grandpa's viewing. I expected it would be emotionally wrenching, but I didn't realize until I saw him lying there how much so. At some point the tears just start coming and you can't hold them back.

I guess it's better to give your grief an outlet rather than bottle it up, though. Sometimes crying is the only way to get that lump in your throat to go away...
