I believe this practice is called, "cramming" (slamming is something else, I think). All they want you to say is, "Yes," and they count that as a confirmation to switch you. Many states are cracking down on this. You've definitely taken the right steps. I'd recommend keeping a close eye on your phone bill just in case it slipped through.

I've contacted the Wisconsin attorney general, the FCC, the better business bureau, and AT&T to let them know what these fools are up to. The next few days should be rather interesting >:)
